Our Community Meal last night was beautiful! About 140 people enjoyed Caribbean tostadas and a delicious melon salad courtesy of Jardin de Milagros, Chef James, and our wonderful volunteers. It was so much fun to visit with friends, old and new. In the energy and sweetness of the evening, God spoke to my heart. He did it through a conversation with one of our guests. I asked her, “What is the Lord was teaching you right now?” She looked at me, with quiet resolve in her eyes, and said, “It’s easy to hate, but love is courage.”
Wow! It does take courage to love other people the way that we need to. It means putting their needs before our own. That’s one of the lessons that God is teaching me too. The Mustard Seed Cafe is a great place to learn those lessons. Come volunteer with us. Come learn to love!
