Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” John 2:17
I read John 2:13-17 and my attention is drawn to
• the Passover as reminder of God’s holiness, His just wrath against sin and His Son’s death as merciful means of deliverance
• the Temple as a symbol of entering the presence of Holy God
• Jesus’ response to their indifference
They do not live with God in their midst. I mentally chastise them for their indifference, “How can they not see? Why don’t they care?”
Then I hear the voice of the Passover Lamb asking how can I not see that this day is holy to the Lord? Holiness inhabits this day because the Lord is here. His Spirit presses me to get rid of every thing that is not of Him. I will delight in holiness and happiness today.
