Café Manger Carmen Estrada and an AMAZING team of volunteers came together and prepped for the week. Career and Technology Education (CTE) culinary students joined in the fun! Pumpkins that once served as café decorations became the base for a delicious soup.
Another group of Austin High School New Tech students spent the morning in the garden. Bill Hooten, our garden manager, has gardened in El Paso for 40 years. He never tires of sharing his love of gardening with other volunteers and guests. Thank you to all of our gardeners who helped with the student group!
Thursday – People are raving about the veggie tacos and homemade salsa. One of the Austin HS students came back and brought her family for lunch! And today we had several UTEP students come to do volunteer hours for the National Leadership and Success Society (NSLS). Go Miners!
Dana, one of our volunteers is an EPCC student and she filmed a video about the MSC today for her video production class. Isaac, an Austin High School student, came to film a video as well. We had 20 UTEP students with NSLS come to help in the kitchen and front-of-the-house. A group of men enjoyed fellowship, Bible study and peach cobbler. And our volunteer family worked tirelessly to serve each guest with excellence and joy!
