UTEP Department of Social Work!
Our thanks to Dr. Eva M. Moya and the students in her graduate Multicultural Macro Practice class! Carmen and Christi had the privilege of visiting their class last Thursday night! What an inspiration these young people are! “Social work is a helping profession; the main goal of social work is to improve a society’s overall well-being, especially for the most vulnerable populations.” Three of these remarkable young people will be working with the Mustard Seed Cafe this semester as we transition to a new location and part of our community. What a blessing and wonderful learning opportunity for us!
UTEP Department of Communications!
Our thanks to Dr. Arvind Singahl and the students in his Communication and Healthy Communities class last fall! Christi had the privilege to share the Mustard Seed Cafe vision with these amazing students. Christi learned the term “positive deviance” from Dr. Singahl, and her interactions with these students helped her to grow in her understanding of this approach to behavioral and social change. How inspiring it is to rub shoulders with individuals who want to work for the betterment of our community!
The students also collected food donations and delivered them to the before Christmas. One of the students is coming today to do an interview and story on the Mustard Seed Cafe!
