The Mustard Seed Cafe and Garden will open its doors at 201 E. Sunset Road on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 11am! These past four months are a testimony to two things – the faithfulness of our God and the glad and generous hearts of the El Paso community! The smiles of our volunteers and their selfless service have been the greatest encouragement, help and source of strength. Westside Community Church is a wonderful host and ministry partner; they have been so patient with our move and reopening process. Local businesses have generously donated or discounted the products and services we need! Financial donors have stepped forward because they believe in the work we do.
Bill Hooten along with Jerry and Susie Hobson direct the work in our new garden which will give us close to 5,200 square feet of growing space. Hopefully, we’ll start in ground planting within the month.
The cafe space has freshly painted walls and restrooms. A fabulous new carpet tile warms the space and our furniture has arrived and is ready to go! Our office build-out is almost finished and the kitchen is taking on a life of its own! Today we are bustling as we test our kitchen and serve lunch on our first soft-opening day!
We have had three meetings with Canutillo ISD officials. We’ve met beautiful people with a genuine commitment to care for their students, and we’re working together on numerous collaborations for the summer and school year to come! We’re meeting with Head Start parents to tell them all about the Cafe and Garden. And we’re making plans to once again be a site for the Summer Food Service Program for school-age children!
Lastly, please consider becoming a Friend of the Seed as a monthly financial partner. We can only remain open with our generous financial supporters. To cover the cost of operating and feeding our community, we’re looking for 15 – 20 new monthly financial partners to support our gospel ministry! We’re feeding hungry people and caring for every heart that comes through our doors. And God gets all the glory!
