Yes, there are hungry people on El Paso’s Westside.
Thousands of individuals and families with children have to make agonizing decisions each month like “Do I pay the rent? Or buy food? Should I buy the medicine or groceries?”
We are working with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank, UTEP, food pantries, nutrition centers, EPISD, YISD, Region 19, Head Start, the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, El Paso Human Services, and with the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless to learn everything that we can in order to engage our vulnerable neighbors in meaningful and helpful ways. Our weekly lunch service, free monthly Community Meals, 5,300 square foot garden and a pilot Nutrition Class are just the beginning. We’ve developed new outreach and ministry strategies and are moving into the implementation phases of each one!
In addition to the urgent physical need for food, the spiritual need of our community for Jesus Christ is staggering. We want to reach people with the Good News of Jesus Christ! The Mustard Seed Cafe serves within the context of the gospel with an aim to glorify the Lord! Won’t you join us?
We need you! We need your financial support, but we don’t just want your money. Find a way to engage with us. Come eat at the cafe. Bring your book club, your co-workers, friends and family. We also need volunteers who are ready to step out of their comfort zones in order to learn to serve other people well. We need volunteers in the cafe, in the kitchen, in the garden and out in the community helping us to build collaborations and engage the hurting.
Mustard Seed Cafe exists to:
Feed hungry people and care for their hearts
Be a genuine expression of the love of God in Jesus Christ
Introduce people to Jesus Christ that they might come to saving faith in Him
