Friday, April 26 was our first Spring Festival and the dedication of our Amigos Garden! Our theme for the day was A Walk Through Creation and we hosted about 100 children and young adults! We welcomed Franklin High School’s Community Readiness Class, Escuela Montessori Del Valle, Community of Faith Christian School, and Calvary West Christian School. A bright turquoise ribbon was cut to officially open the garden! Then Mustard Seed Café volunteers led four different educational stations for the students. The kids marveled as Miss Jill pulled a carrot from the ground for each one of them! They washed the carrots in our cleaning station and then gobbled them up! Nothing compares to garden and farm fresh!
Other Mustard Seed Café volunteers including young adults from Montwood High School helped with our Walk Through Creation craft time. It was a beautiful El Paso spring day and was topped off by a delicious meal in the Café prepared and served by other members of our wonderful volunteer family. The day was a sweet success and gave us a glimpse of the educational potential of the garden and of the important role that children, parents, and teachers have in our future.
Thank you Lord for a glorious day!
