  • Eating Seasonally: Fall

Here at Vida Natural, a program of the Mustard Seed Cafe generously funded by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, we want everyone to learn about the benefits of eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. As we enter our fall season, we begin to notice our weather getting cooler, but there are also other changes happening. Long gone are the days of ripe peaches, watermelons, and tasty berries, but ahead are the days of sweet pomegranates, juicy grapes, and crunchy leafy greens.

Seasonal produce is fresher, tastier, and more nutritious than produce consumed out of season. When fruits and vegetables are allowed to ripen naturally on the vine or tree and harvested at the right time, they have more flavor and nutrients. In the image, you will see six suggested in-season produce items: pomegranate, pear, grapes, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and kale. These are delicious and easy to incorporate into your meals. Enjoy!
