“I have been volunteering here on and off for about five years. I help wherever there is a need, organizing volunteers or busing tables. It’s a symbiotic relationship that I have with the Mustard Seed: just as much as I help them, they help me too. I work with international spouses at the United States sergeants major academy: I bring the spouses here, and the Mustard Seed folks give them a tour, reach out to them, include them. To people from some countries, this whole concept of serving free food and serving people is a foreign idea, so being the hands and feet in this way – this really shows the love of Christ and I think it shows who we are as a church and as a nation in America.

There’s a domino effect that I see – I brought one of the international spouses here to the Mustard Seed Cafe. She saw the love of the other volunteers, who welcomed her and bathed her in prayer, and she began volunteering herself. I love too seeing the Boy Scout Troop that my husband works with serving here, busing tables for events, seeing what this all means – it’s just really special, a butterfly effect.”
